Talisay City Mayor Eddie Gullas has ordered the immediate release of the financial assistance for those who were affected by the fire in Sitio Caduldulan, Barangay Lawaan 3.

Initially, Felipa Solana of the City Social Welfare Office said that house owners who lost their homes will receive P10,000, while renters and those whose houses were damaged by the fire will receive P5,000.

Around 96 families, composed of 384 individuals, were affected by the fire that occurred on Christmas Eve.

In an interview, Gullas told reporters he was saddened by the incident as it occurred just as families were preparing for their Christmas celebrations.

Gullas went to Sitio Caduldulan yesterday to provide relief, such as tents and medicines.

He has ordered Solana to expedite the release of the financial assistance so that the affected families can immediately use it to build back their houses.

Gullas said there might be a little delay in the release of the financial assistance as the City Government has just started to return to work after the Christmas break.

He told Solana to release the amount within the day.

In a separate interview, Solana told SunStar Cebu that they are also welcoming private individuals and organizations who can donate any help for the victims.

Solana said that for interested donors, they can either coordinate with their office or send their donations directly to the fire site.

Solana said that interested donors can contact their office at 272-5249 for any inquiries. /
