Global signs new defender
Global Cebu FC adds yet another ex-FC Meralco Manila player to strengthen its backline for the upcoming Philippines Football League (PFL) season.
Lee Jeongmin, also known as Ian Lee, was inked by the Cebuano side just this week, making him the fifth player signed from the now defunct FC Meralco Manila.
Global Cebu FC earlier signed goalkeeper Florencio Badelic Jr., striker Jinggoy Valmayor, forward or winger Curt Dizon and midfielder Daniel Gadia. The other signing from the club is Cebuano defender Jordan Jarvis from Davao Aguilas FC.
Lee is the Asian import of Global Cebu FC, replacing veteran Yu Hoshide. The 40-year-old Hoshide, however, isn’t leaving Global Cebu FC, but rather he’s moving to the sideline as one of the club’s coaches along with interim head coach Marjo Allado and decorated Cebuano coach Glen Ramos.
The Cebuano side’s three other international players are Spanish striker Rufo Sanchez, Trinidadian forward Darryl Roberts and Brazilian central defender Wesley Dos Santos.
Lee will be a huge boost to Global Cebu FC’s backline after losing one of the anchors of its defense Amani Aguinaldo, who moved to PFL champion Ceres Negros FC.
The other players that Global Cebu FC lost in the transfer window are Misagh Bahadoran, Hikaru Minegishi and Dennis Villanueva. /
