RETIRED COP NABBED FOR BRIBE TRY, DRUG

Antonio Tabug, 50, allegedly tried to pay P50T cash to the Mabolo Police Station personnel in exchange for the release of a woman who was earlier caught for shabu

A retired police officer was arrested after he allegedly tried to bribe personnel of the Mabolo Police Station into releasing his friend in exchange for cash last Saturday evening.

Antonio Tabug, 50, who held a rank of SPO3, is now detained in the Mabolo police’s detention cell after he allegedly offered P50,000 to release his friend, Roselle Paculaba, who was caught for a drug-re- lated offense last week.

Tabug, whom police tagged as a high-value target for drugs, was caught during an entrapment inside the police station. He lives in Barangay Centro, Mandaue City.

Aside from the bribery try, Tabug also allegedly yielded two medium packs and one large pack of illegal drugs.

Also arrested was his companion, Juvy Marabellas, 37, a res- ident of Barangay Ermita, who had two small sachets of shabu from her possession.

The operation was conducted in coordinati­on with the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency (PDEA) 7.

Both will be facing charges for corruption of government official and Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. /
