■ DBTC, SPRINGDALE ROMP OFF WITH SINULOG FOOTBALL TITLES
DBTC beats Springdale, Ateneo for U7, U9 titles, while Springdale claims U11 crown over DBTC in first day of Sinulog Cup
Favorite Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) picked up two trophies on the first day of the 8th Sinulog Football Cup after ruling the youngest divisions at the Cebu City Sports Center. In the U7 division, DBTC E won all four games, including two against other DBTC squads, before advancing to the finals and beating Paref Springdale. DBTC also son the U9 division over Ateneo de Cebu, 3-2. Paref Springdale made up for its early loss, claiming the U11 title over DBTC, 1-0. The 8th Sinulog Cup continues today with action in the Boys 18, 38-Above, 45-above, BPO Ladies, BPO Men’s, Inter-Company and the men’s and women’s open still at the CCSC.

DBTC E started the ball rolling in the U7 division after completing its unbeaten run with a 2-1 shootout win over Paref-Springdale in the final, while DBTC E survived a close shootout win over Ateneo de Cebu, 3-2, to rule the U9 division.
In the U7 division, DBTC E had an impressive run, winning all four games via shutout before advancing to the finals. DBTC E blanked Cubacub, 2-0, Golden United, 13-0, DBTC C, 3-0, and DBTC D, 2-0, in the group stage before blanking Einstein School, 4-0, in the semifinals.
On the other hand, Paref-Springdale conceded only one goal in five games before the finals. Springdale posted narrow wins over Einstein, 1-0, and Cubacub, 1-0, and also defeated DBTC A, 2-1, and DBTC B, 2-1, in the group stage. In the semifinals, Springdale outlasted DBTC D, 1-0, to advance to the championship match.
Meanwhile, in the U9 division, DBTC E barely faced a threat before advancing to the finals against the dangerous Ateneo de Cebu. DBT E routed DBTC F, 4-1 and blanked Springdale, 7-0, before a win via forfeit against Samanthabadra.
In the quarterfinals, DBTC routed DBTC B, 4-0, and also blanked Canduman, 3-0, in the semifinals. On the other hand, Ateneo de Cebu blanked DBTC A, 2-0, in the quarterfinals and also routed Cebu Sherilin, 3-0, in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Paref Springdale made up for its early loss after claiming the U11 title over DBTC, 1-0, it’s third straight 1-0 win in the knockout stage after topping the group stage. Before the final, Springdale also beat DBTC C, 1-0, in the semifinals and escaped Ateneo de Cebu, 1-0, in the quarterfinals. /
