4th district police forces get computers from Salimbangon

-

Rep. Benhur Salimbangon ( Cebu Province, 4th district) donated computers to all police stations in Cebu’s fourth district through the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas ( OPAV) to improve police services.

“The purchase of these computers and laptops came from my personal funds, not from government funds,” Salimbangon said.

Salimbangon said he already donated computers to all police stations six years ago but these have to be updated.

The congressman did not divulge the amount he spent for the donations. But the police estimated that each computer set costs P35,000.

“With these computers and laptops, we expect the police to be more efficient especially in our effort to fight criminality and preserve evidences. They may store police blotters in it,” Salimbangon said.

For his part, Presidential Assistant Michael Lloyd Dino said he will work for a better communications system for police stations in the Visayas.

He said Salimbangon’s donations are only for the fourth district and that he will handle the computerization concerns of all police stations in the Visayas.

Senior Supt. Edgar Alan Okubo, director of the Cebu Provincial Police Office ( CPPO), said police stations can now easily store records of their operations like Operation Tokhang and will be more efficient in issuing police clearance.

“These computers will aid them in their police functions. Their computers are already outdated. We are already computerized and these new units will replace the old ones,” Okubo said.

Salimbangon also coordinated with the Department of Interior and Local Government ( DILG) for the distribution of five patrol vehicles for the fourth district.

He said the patrol vehicles will be distributed to strategic areas so the police can immediately response to emergencies.

“They have a problem with the use of ambulance because the patients are made to shoulder fuel and even honorarium to drivers. With these, police patrol vehicles emergency response is simplified,” Salimbangon said.
