Gullas to police: Solve wave of burglaries
Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas has ordered local police to solve the series of burglaries that happened in the city since the start of the month.
Gullas issued the statement after the law office of former Talisay City vice mayor Romeo Villarante in Barangay Tabunok was burglarized by unidentified men last week.
Villarante’s law office and another establishment lost cash and valuables to the culprits.
Aside from their office, Villarante lamented that another law office in the city was ransacked by burglars.
Although they are from opposing political groups, Gullas told reporters that he felt embarrassed on what happened to Villarante’s law office and immediately called acting Talisay City police chief Marlu Conag to discuss the incident.
“Ako siyang gitawag ug giingnan nga do something about it kay maikog ta, abi pa lang kay dili nako kauban sa pundok,” the mayor said.
He said he is even willing to apologize to the former vice mayor if ever he is given a chance.
Gullas ordered Conag to immediately arrest those involved in the burglaries to prevent another incident.
Conag, in a separate interview, said they never failed to conduct patrols around the city.
But he said that at the time Villarante’s law office was burglarized, one of their patrol cars was being repaired.
Gullas said he is now fast-tracking the acquisition of two new patrol cars for the police.
