A CLICK WITH PARENTS

Entrepreneur Jandrick Climaco, like every other parent, has his fair share of challenges taking care of his kid—shopping included.

It all started in March 2016 when Jandrick and his wife Marian had their first child, Bastien Antoine. Marian, a flight attendant by profession, had to resume work three months after giving birth to their little boy. While Marian was away, Jandrick took care of Bastien, with help from his in-laws.

His struggles in that parental set-up included going out to shop for baby supplies, going back to the house to drop them off and then leaving again for work—a routine Jandrick found very inconvenient and time-consuming as he also manages Albur’s Restaurant, which he co-owns.

Equipped with the knowledge he learned from his stint in the Mentor ME (Micro Entrepreneurs) Program by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), he took matters into his own hands and decided to make a permanent solution to his and other parents’ struggle—thus, online platform MommyBuddy was created.

MommyBuddy is a milk and baby needs express delivery service—the first in Cebu—that aims to help working and single parents who don’t have the luxury of time to do the shopping themselves. With MommyBuddy, one can order all of his or her baby’s needs with a simple click of a button and have them delivered within the day.

“With MommyBuddy, I hope to solve an unspoken problem that parents face every day. Sometimes, shopping for supplies for the kids can be a hassle. Hopefully with MommyBuddy, parenting will be a bit easier,” said Jandrick.

The platform is relatively young, having been launched only last month. Dubbed “MommyBuddy Playdate,” the launch proved to be a success with hundreds of families in attendance. “I’m so thankful to everyone who came. I honestly did not expect that much of a turnout.”

MommyBuddy stocks the essentials such as milk, diapers, wipes, baby wash, detergent, toys, to name a few. Some of the brands the website carries are Nestlé, EQ, Huggies, Kimberly-Clark, Geppetto’s Toy Ville, MamyPoko, and a lot more. Aside from baby supplies, one can also plan a party through the website. No minimum purchase is required and for payment options, one can choose between cash on delivery or credit card. Members with orders worth at least P1,500 get free delivery.

Just recently, MommyBuddy introduced the Weekly Delivery service, which lets users select and order the items their kids need and want and have them delivered right at their doorstep every week. Jandrick also invites parents to join the MommyBuddy Club, a support group for parents that will be tackling relevant topics on modern parenting through events. To join, one must simply go to the club’s group page on Facebook and send a request to join.

With almost everything going digital these days, MommyBuddy is, no doubt, a game-changer for today’s parents.
