Salpon contest set
Salpon (from “salida” and “cell phone”) is a smartphone short film competition recently initiated by the University of San Carlos Cebuano Studies Center (CSC).
It is open to all young film enthusiasts aged 15-25 years old. In line with the celebration of the National Arts Month, the theme is “Cebuano Art.”
Entries may be on music, literature, theater, visual arts, dance, film and architecture as long as it is Cebuano.
The theme promotes appreciation of local arts and culture as well as encourages the youth to develop their craft at storytelling with basic filmmaking.
It is open to individual entries that must be original, shot exclusively with a smartphone and must not have been published before this competition.
Entries
The soundtrack must be original or copyright free music. If submitted in Cebuano, an English subtitle is needed. Only one entry per participant is allowed. Entries must not be less than five minutes or exceed seven minutes.
Entries must be submitted through a flash drive to the Cebuano Studies Center at the Talamban Campus.
Deadline for submission is Feb. 23.
The participants will be informed if they have made it to the final screening.
Awarding of prizes will be on Feb. 27 at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu, Cebu City.
The Salpon committee reserves the right to exhibit the first three winning entries during the National Arts Month celebration.
The participant allows the reproduction and dissemination of the film for future promotion purposes of the Cebuano Studies Center.
