China Town in Mandani Bay
How does one create the atmosphere of auspiciousness while welcoming the Year of the Earth Dog? With merrymaking, of course, in traditional Chinese fashion, with family and friends, at Cebu’s emerging world-class lifestyle development.
China Town in Mandani Bay, a weekend night market, beckons to the Cebuanos and local Filipino-Chinese community—a festive celebration of the most important Chinese festival—on Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Mandani Bay Show Gallery.
Open from sundown on both days, the celebration features performances by the Cebu Eastern College, Cebu Wu Shu and Buddha’s Light International Association Performing Arts. Dragon Fireworks caps the celebration with its signature choreographed fireworks display.
The Venerable Miao Ren of Fo Guang Shan Chu Un Temple offers prayers for a prosperous Year of the Earth Dog.
Guests have a wide array of delectable Chinese chow at the food strip alongside a display of other products and services.
Feng Shui Master Francis Gaw comes to Mandani Bay on Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. for a talk on harnessing the auspicious energies of the Year of the Earth Dog.
Observed at the turn of the traditional lunisolar calendar, the date of the Chinese New Year or what is called the “Spring Festival” in modern-day mainland China varies from year to year. This year, the New Year begins on Feb. 16.
China Town in Mandani Bay bears the union of Mandani Bay with the Chinese worldwide and especially the Cebuanos and local Filipino-Chinese community. The event is a project of HTLand Inc., which develops Mandani Bay, and the Mandaue Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
