PEACE AND ORDER Lapu-Lapu police receive 11 new cars from City, PRO 7
The Lapu-Lapu City Government and Police Regional Office 7 turned over six Isuzu Crosswind and five Mitsubishi Montero vehicles to the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) yesterday.
The City Government allocated P6 million for the purchase of the Isuzu vehicles, which are meant to enhance LCPO’s capability in monitoring security in Lapu-Lapu and in responding to emergencies.
The vehicles were procured last year.
As for the five Mitsubishi vehicles, PRO 7 Director Robert Quenery said these form part of the vehicles donated by the Japanese Government to the Philippine Government.
Mayor Paz Radaza and Quenery turned over the patrol cars to LCPO led by Senior Supt. Rommel Cabagnot after the blessing ceremony, which Father Joffrey Adolfo presided at the City Hall grounds around 10 a.m.
The mayor said they will include in the City Government’s supplemental budget this year the procurement of another patrol car for the City Tourist Police and bulletproof vests for the City Intelligence Branch.
“We expect that police offi- cers can easily respond to the need of the Oponganons and enhance their crime prevention operations,” Radaza said.
Gasoline for the vehicles will be shouldered by the City.
“Ang ila lang gyud nga ila ning mamintinar og maayo (They just need to maintain the vehicles well),” the mayor said.
After the turnover ceremony yesterday, Quenery talked with the personnel of the LCPO in the Lapu-Lapu Sports Complex.
Quenery said there is a need to further enhance their skills when confronting suspects after a police officer was killed in a drug raid in Minglanilla.
“Enhance your skills and always consider drug suspects as enemies...Practice, always be alert and always work with a buddy para di tayo nasa losing end. Sila yung dapat nasa losing end,” he said.
“Look out for these illegal drug traffickers. Get them. Arrest them,” he added. /
