REWARD FOR LAPU TRAFFIC ENFORCER

It is an unfortunate experience for a government official or employee to be caught for a traffic violation. But for a traffic enforcer in Lapu-Lapu City, it is lucky to apprehend one. City Mayor Paz Radaza said she will reward the traffic enforcer who issued a citation ticket to a barangay captain that violated the traffic rules twice. Pangan-an Barangay Captain Virgilio Casiao of Olango Island was caught twice for not wearing a helmet while driving his motorcycle in the mainland of Lapu-Lapu. Radaza got information that Casiao was first caught last Feb. 15 in Barangay Agus and on S. Osmeña St. in Lapu-Lapu last week. City Traffic Management System (CTMS) Chief Mario Napule said Casiao was first apprehended by a member of the Lapu-Lapu City Police OfficeTraffic Enforcement Unit then by a member of the CTMS. “Samokan siya naa helmet sa iyang ulo. Karon nag- helmet na siya (He didn’t like wearing a helmet. But now he’s using one),” said Napule. According to him, Casiao already settled his fines. Radaza earlier said that she will give a reward to the traffic enforcers that will catch elected officials, department heads and City Hall employees who violate the traffic rules. The mayor will give P2,000 to the traffic enforcer who can catch a City Hall employee, while P3,000 and 5,000 for a department head and elected official, respectively. “Swerte ang CTMS kay dunay reward (The CTMS is lucky for he will receive a reward),” said Radaza on the recent incident involving Casiao. “Kung makahibaw ko (wa nila dakpa), reprimanded sila kung moingon sila official (If I get information that a traffic enforcer did not issue a citation ticket to a traffic violator for the reason that the latter is a government official, he/ she will be reprimanded),” she added. /
