P2B OF INFRA TO EASE CITY’S TRAFFIC: TOMAS
Mayor writes DPWH proposing road projects in areas in city where traffic is most problematic
To help improve traffic situation in the city, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has proposed close to P2 billion infrastructure projects before the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 7 for 2019.
In a letter dated Feb. 21 and addressed to DPWH 7 Director Ador Canlas, Osmeña proposed the implementation of infrastructure projects that will include the improvement and widening of several roads in the city.
Among these roads are the intersection of Mambaling Access Road and Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR), Salinas Drive, Gorordo Ave. and Veterans Drive and Serging Osmeña Blvd. and V. Sotto St.
Other projects include the widening to eight lanes of Serging Osmeña Blvd. and CSCR.
On the improvement projects, Osmeña said DWPH 7 is already conducting feasibility study, while the widening projects are already included in the final report on the feasibility and business case studies for the CSCR, Cebu Circu mferential Road and Lateral Arterial Roads.
The Cebu City Development Council is also set to endorse the project once the formal resolution for it will be approved.
If the projects will be completed, Osmeña, in his Facebook post, said the City will no longer implement the no-left-turn policy from the Mambaling Access Road to the CSCR to prevent collisions.

ing out of the city’s budget. I found a way for the national (government) to fund them, so their cost will not hamper your local government’s ability to deliver basic services. Soon, we will also secure funding that will allow us to fix all the roads that need fixing. This is what you hired me for, and this why I can deliver. I can do what very few mayors can do,” the mayor said.
He said he announced ahead the five projects and the other projects he plans to implement because there are those who wanted to block them.
