LABELLA TO HONOR PARTY CONSENSUS

Get it from the horse’s mouth.

Cebu City Vice Mayor Edgar Labella himself said yesterday on dyCM radio that he’d run for mayor only when his group would pick him as its candidate.

By group, he meant the Barug Team Rama alliance with PDP-Laban, when pressed by “Frankahay Ta” host Atty. Frank Malilong.

Wouldn’t that require a consensus of not just Barug leaders but also PDP-Laban leaders? What if their party interests wouldn’t coincide and would even clash?

Well, it’s still a year or so away. The process could evolve by then.

What’s clear is that VM Edgar wouldn’t just ignore the will of Barug leaders, especially former mayor Mike Rama. To have a fair chance against incumbent and probable reelectionist Mayor Tomas Osmeña, the city opposition has to avoid a three-cornered fight.

Earlier, also on dyCM radio, Mike said he’d be willing to settle for a vice mayor’s slot if needed to beat Tomas. And no, Mike said, the Holy Spirit didn’t talk to him about his political plans.
