Police’s response to alarms, emergencies checked

- / JOB

To test how quickly the police could respond to an alarm, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) conducted simulation exercises on hostage negotiation and robbery incident yesterday in San Nicolas and Mambaling police stations.

On the same day, CCPO established checkpoints in the different areas of the city to prevent motorcycle-riding gunmen from committing crimes in the villages.

For the simulation exercises, CCPO Director Senior Supt. Joel Doria said that it seeks to test the response time of policemen during alarms in their areas of responsibility.

“These simulation exercises were part of our preparation so that the response of our personnel is well-coordinated with the concerned agencies,” he said.

This includes the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, among others.

“Nearby establishment were also informed so that there won’t be panic that would ensue,” Doria said.

Senior Insp. Keith Andaya, chief of the San Nicolas Police Station, said that their target response time during the simula- tion exercise was achieved.

The only lapse they noted, he said, was the failure of the responders to participate in a briefing before they participated in the hostage negotiation exercise.
