In celebration of its global 20th anniversary, “The Vagina Monologues” partners with the Bidlisiw Foundation Inc. in Cebu to raise awareness on child trafficking.

“Bidlisiw’s programs include assisting women and girls who have been abused and exploited, which aligns with V-Day’s mission. For years, it has provided its beneficiaries access to education, skills training and job opportunities. Last year, it organized a job fair exclusively for women,” said Sarah Enclona-Henderson, producing artistic director of 2TinCans Philippines Inc., the official producer of “The Vagina Monologues” in Cebu.

“The Vagina Monologues” will be held this Sunday at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

The stage play is based on award-winning author, playwright and activist Eve Ensler’s interviews with hundreds of women on the subject of women’s sexuality, female empowerment and gender-based discrimination and violence. It was first staged in 1998, spawning a global movement called V-Day in the same year, and every February since then.

Ensler has taken an active role in leading V-Day globally, working together with local leaders such as Enclona-Henderson, who is joined on the Cebu stage this year by a cast of women from different walks of life. Many of these women are veterans of previous “The Vagina Monologues” runs and V-Day activities.

Tickets for the show can be purchased at the Waterfront Box Office at the hotel lobby, at the reception area of Casino Filipino in Barangay Lahug, at the 2TinCans Philippines office at 479 Archbishop Reyes Ave. also in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City or online through https://2tincans.yapsody.com.
