PROVINCE SETS UP NORTH VS. SOUTH MATCH

Top spikers from the North and South divisions will clash in the 1st Governor’s Cup Volleyball Tournament after the organizers decided to add an All-Star Game to its calendar.

“We’re planning to do the AllStar Game so we can see the top players from North and South play against each other,” said Atty. Ramil Abing, executive director of the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC), the lead organizer of the volleyball tournament.

Abing bared this developmen­t during the second weekend of the Governor’s Cup in Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island last Sunday.

“We will still finalize the date and venue, though, for the AllStar Game. But it’s definitely a go,” he said.

The tournament for Under-18 females started last month with 29 teams from different local government units (LGU) from Cebu Province.

The North Division has Mandaue City, Cordova, Consolacio­n, Liloan, San Francisco ,Camotes and Poro, Camotes, Danao City, Carmen, Catmon, Sogod, Asturias, Balamban, Santa Fe, Medellin, Bogo City, Tabogon and Tuburan.

The South division has Talisay City, Minglanill­a, Carcar City, Argao, Dalaguete, Oslob, Santander and Samboan ,Ginatilan, Moalboal, Algeria and Dumanjug.

Meanwhile, in the other games last Sunday, Liloan escaped Consolacio­n, 22-25, 25-12, 27-25; while Mandaue City routed Cordova, 25-4, 25-19 in the Consolacio­n Municipal Gym. /
