Cebuano teens get 4 votes
The Star Taekwondo Team from Cebu got unanimous approval from the four judges of “Pilipinas Got Talent.”
The team, made up of Cebuano teens, performed martial arts set to the tune of “Danger” from BTS.
“Usually, those who perform something like this, they just do karate—they just demonstrate,” said judge Angel Locsin, who approved of the use of a popular K-pop song. “But you integrated dance and it sweetened what we saw.”
Another judge, Vice Ganda, loved it so much that he said that if Star was a suitor, he would easily say yes—as easily as he said yes to the group advancing in the competition.
The performance involved a martial arts demonstration, a little bit of dance, some tricks with small wooden planks and some fight stunts.
Vice Ganda said he was happy with the performance especially with the women because in this day and age, the “It’s Showtime” host said that it is already a woman’s responsibility to defend herself.
Judge Robin Padilla though noted some mistakes.
“Don’t rush it next time,” said Padilla in Tagalog. “Martials arts is about being calm.”
Six of the members of Star are also members of the Philippine National Taekwondo Team. Some of their members have also recently received medals in various Asian competitions.
