A 32-year-old man from Cebu City is facing a criminal case in court for allegedly raping the infant daughter of a woman whom he courted.

Prosecutor Naruzen Delfin-Lorete found evidence to charge the accused, of Barangay Labangon, Cebu City, with rape before the Regional Trial Court.

Rape is a non-bailable crime. In her affidavit, the 32-year old mother, of Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City, alleged that the accused sexually molested her fourmonth old daughter inside their house on March 7, 2018.

In her affidavit, the mother said that she and the accused were having coffee inside her house at around 6 a.m. last March 7.

She later excused herself to buy diapers of her infant. She asked her suitor to look after her baby.

When she returned to the house, the mother said she heard her daughter crying.

But the accused told the mother that her baby was crying since she was hungry.

The mother later notices that her baby’s diaper was un-fastened.

When she checked her infant, the mother saw blood coming from her baby’s anus.

The mother confronted her suitor, who insisted that her baby’s condition was the same when she left the infant.

The mother reported the incident to their barangay, which prompted barangay officials to report the matter to the police.

The accused decided not to undergo preliminary investigation, prompting government prosecutor to file the rape case in court. /
