Trust the system: cops

- /

Persons who are aggrieved by their enemies should not take the law in their own hands, a police official said.

Police Regional Office 7 information officer Supt. Reyman Tolentin said the public should still trust the justice system.

“The wheels of justice are really turning. We are doing our job,” he said.

Tolentin said they conducting checkpoints, patrols and operations against illegal firearms and to prevent crimes.

He said some of the killings

were perpetrated by drug groups.

“Kung hindi maganda ang negosyo, nagpapatayan sila,” he said. “We are winning kasi konti na lang ang hulihin namin.” Tothe lentin, however, said they do not condone the killings and they will still go after the perpetrators.

The police official assured that there are no vigilantes operating in Cebu.

Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Antonio Chiu expressed concern on the recent spate of killings, saying it could affect business.

For his part, Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma said he is contemplating on coming up with a special prayer against the killings.

The wheels of justice are really turning. We are doing our job.
