Gwen thinking of giving Capitol another shot

- JKV

Citing clamor from her supporters, Deputy Speaker Gwen Garcia (Cebu Province, 3rd district) is “seriously considering” running for governor in next year’s elections.

This, despite a dismissal order issued against her by the Ombudsman in connection with a supply contract for materials intended for the former Balili property in the City of Naga.

Garcia told reporters she wants to run for governor again as she believes that her successor, Gov. Hilario Davide III, is afraid of her.

“Bisan hain ko moadto, kadaghanan moawhag nako padaganon kog gobernador kay ako ra kunoy gikahadlokan ni Davide. Hadlok lagi gyud kuno si Davide kung ako maoy muparang niya kay ako naman na siyang gipilde sa una (Wherever I go, I’m told I should run for governor again because Davide is afraid of me. I defeated him before),” Garcia said.

Garcia believes Davide has connections with the anti-graft court.

Garcia said she now has a running mate but refuses to divulge who the person is.

Garcia believes there is a need for her to run for governor as the current administration is failing to achieve what she had done for Cebu during her time.

She cited the shortcomings of Davide’s administration, including what she called his failure to provide infrastructure projects that would benefit Cebu./
