People who are planning to go home to southern Cebu on Holy Week are asked to be vigilant.

Officials of the Cebu South Bus Terminal announced they will be on heightened alert starting on Holy Wednesday.

Jonathan Tumulak, CSBT security manager, said he received a letter from a government agency ordering the CSBT to beef up security inside the terminal.

Tumulak refused to say where the letter came from.

He read the advisory during his meeting with bus and minibus operators at the CSBT yesterday.

According to Tumulak, local police and military personnel will be assigned in the CSBT to help secure passengers.

An additional 100 security personnel from the Cebu Provincial Capitol will be assigned to the CSBT to help augment security, he added.

Tumulak also advised bus and minibus drivers and conductors to be vigilant.

“Kung makakita man gani mo ug bag or package nga gibilin sa inyong mga bus nga walay tag-iya, o naa bay pasahero nga kadudahan ug linihokan nga dili mutingog o mubayad ug plete, e-report sa amoa. Ayaw ninyo pasagdii,” Tumulak said.

Terminal vendors and porters are also advised to do the same.

Julieto Flores, president of the Cebu Provincial Bus and Minibus Operators Cooperative, said his members and their employees will cooperate with authorities, but they are also asking for the public’s help. /
