Endangering pedestrians
Many motorists in Cebu City have found out the hard way that the City Government is dead serious in implementing traffic laws, as Mayor Tomas Osmeña had warned earlier in the year.
I don’t have the exact numbers, but I’m sure the impounding area at the South Road Properties is filled with motorcycles--with a handful of cars, maybe-- that will be the City’s guests for the next 30 days, if they’re first offenders.
Most if not all of their drivers were apprehended for counterflowing.
The traffic ordinance, I think, also prohibits motorcycle drivers from using the sidewalks. After all, the sidewalk is meant for pedestrians. But that doesn’t seem to be the case on a particular sidewalk on Osmeña Blvd., or that stretch between R. Landon and Uytengsu Road. Drivers continue to endanger pedestrians as they weave in and out of the narrow walkway.--Peter
