New boss asks police chiefs: Visit schools daily for 2 weeks

-

The newly-installed director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 instructed all city and provincial directors to inspect schools within their areas of responsibility for 15 days in the Balik Eskwela.

Chief Supt. Debold Sinas visited and greeted students of Labangon Elementary School, Guadalupe Elementary School, and Zapatera Elementary School in Cebu City as classes opened yesterday in public schools.

“Magsuroy sila sa mga dagkong eskwelahan, check sa traffic ug sa security. Adlaw-adlawon for 15 days kay naa pa man ang mga inahan ana. After ana, hopefully ma-normalize na ug maanad na sa atong mga police (They should check the big schools check the traffic and security. They should do that every day for 15 days, while the students’ mothers still go with the children. After that, we hope the situation will be back to normal),” Sinas said.

The regional director said that the police are also looking into the concerns of parents like the reported activities of gangs.

“In fact, it would be better if they would take a picture so that our police stations could have records of, for example, pickpockets,” Sinas said.

Carolina Laresma, 46, a parent of a Grade 3 pupil in Labangon Elementary School, appreciated Sinas’ visit. “Nalipay mi. Nagpakabana pud ba. Nahadlok mi anang gang pero mitambag ko sa akong anak nga di pataka’g gawas (I’m glad to see the police paying attention. I am worried about gangs but I’ve told my child not to leave the campus unless it’s necessary,” she said.
