City’s order: Close bistro in Tisa

-

The Cebu City Government shut down another business establishment yesterday for its owner’s failure to secure a business permit and pay business taxes.

City Hall’s Raquel Arce padlocked Anise Bistro located on Katipunan St. in Barangay Tisa, where she served the closure order signed by Mayor Tomas Osmeña.

“We are closing them because based on the recommendations of the City Legal Office and the City Treasurer’s Office, they are operating without a business permit,” said Arce, who heads the Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement (Probe) unit.

Anise Bistro is the first establishment closed after Osmeña ordered Arce to run after businesses that are not paying taxes.

During the closure yesterday, the establishment’s owner did not show up and only a few workers were there.

Osmeña said he plans to make a deal with taxpayers to encourage them to pay their taxes. Upon paying taxes, taxpayers will get a slip to allow them to choose how their taxes will be spent. “Where do you want your money to go? We will document that and then you pay your taxes and you will get an acknowledgement by the budgeting department that your allocation is included in this year’s budget, for example,” he said.

I think there are still plenty of business establishments that we will check
