NOMINATIONS FOR MODEL OFW FAMILY 2018 UP

Organizations will have until Aug. 17, 2018 to submit their nominations

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Central Visayas is now accepting nominations for the search for Model OFW Family of the Year Awardees (MOFYA) 2018.

The award aims to recognize the outstanding achievements of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families.

It is also aimed at promoting success stories of OFW families’ resilience amidst challenges of overseas employment.

Religious groups, non-government organizations (NGOs), people’s organizations (POs), OFW family circles (OFCs) and community-based socio-civic organizations can nominate a family from Region 7 (Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor) whose head is a land-based or sea-based OFW, could be the father or mother, including widow/ widower.

The OFW must have at least four years work experience overseas and can either be presently or formerly working abroad.

For former OFWs, he/she must have returned to the country for good for not more than 10 years from the date of the nomination.

The OFW must not be a holder of an elective /appointive position in national/local office and has no derogatory record.

The MOFYA winners will be chosen based on the following criteria: wholesomeness of the OFW family, civic/community involvement of the OFW and family, success in OFW’s and/or family member/s’ education or profession, and success in managing family finances.

One winner from each category, land-based and sea-based, will be chosen to represent Central Visayas in the national competition.

Nomination forms may be obtained at Owwa Regional Welfare Office 7, second floor, Dole VII Building, Gorordo Ave. corner Gen. Maxilom Ave., Cebu City.

Deadline for the submission of nominations is on Aug. 17, 2018.
