2 officers caught attending cockfights transferred

-

Two police officers from the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) were relieved and reassigned to the Police Regional Office (PRO) headquarters holding unit after they were captured by a surveillance camera inside improvised cockpit arenas on A. Lopez St. and Naga City.

PRO 7 Director Chief Supt. Debold Sinas identified the two as PO2 Jansen Caña, who was caught in a surveillance footage in a cockpit arena on A. Lopez St., Cebu City last June 24; while SPO1 Felipe Alfeche was also captured in a surveillance video in an improvised cockpit arena in Naga City on June 30.

Sinas gave a verbal order to a Red Team from the Office of the Regional Director to monitor any personnel of the PRO 7 who participate in illegal gambling.

The monitoring stemmed from the text reports from concerned citizens who stated that the two officers were frequently seen allegedly participating and betting in illegal cockfighting in the improvised arenas.

Caña is assigned in Police Station 2 of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

AAlfeche is assigned in the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the same police office.

Both will be reportedly facing charges for the violation of the PNP Ethical Standard.

They will be assigned to the PHAU of the regional headquarters, pending investigation.
