Colina finishes AFC A course

-

Cebuano football coach Oliver Colina completed his Asian Football Confederation (AFC) ‘A’ Coaching Certificate Course and will be awaiting the results if he gets his AFC A license in December.

“I’m very happy; at least I finished it. It was very tiring and it put a lot of pressure on me. Basically, it was mental fatigue because we had to study and had to be ready, just like our last exam that had onthe-spot questions then you had to make a diagram in 30 minutes,” said Colina, who led Leylam FC to two Aboitiz Cup Men’s Open titles.

Part 1 of the course was in June last year, while the second part was on July 1 to 15 in the Rizal Memorial Stadium. The course was conducted by Marlon Maro, Aris Caslib, Abdulla Hassan Abdulla and Cok Ka Ming.

“We had a lot of pressure in our last week because we had practical individual exams from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.,” he said.

If Colina gets his AFC A license, he’ll be eligible to coach a Philippine Football League (PFL) team.

Colina, however, wants to stay in Cebu and help the local football scene.

“I want to still work here in Cebu. I want to help football progress here,” said Colina.

Colina played for the University of San Jose-Recoletos in college and was part of the 2005 Southeast Asian Games training pool. /
