An 11-year-old boy reportedly hanged himself after being scolded by his mother for playing computer games.

Eluard (not his real name) was found lifeless by his mother inside their house in Toledo City past 6 p.m. last Saturday.

The mother, SPO1 Roxam Enerio said, was concerned about her son’s health as he often skipped meals to continue playing in an Internet cafe. She told the boy to stop going there.

After she rebuked her son, she went out of the house for some errands. It was not known if there were any other family members at home with the boy at that time.

Incidents of teenage suicides in Cebu have happened in the past.

In January 2018, a 16-yearold consistent honor student hanged herself after she was accused of cheating by her teacher in Argao.

Two months later, two 17-year-olds were reported to have ended their lives in Balamban and Pinamungajan.

In Pinamungajan, the teenager---a village official’s daughter--sent pictures of herself with a rope tied around her neck to her friend through Facebook Messenger.

Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for Behavioral Sciences chief Dr. Rene Obra said in earlier reports that relatives of a family member, whom they sense to be depressed, should seek medical help.

In Cebu, Tawag Paglaum may be reached at 0927-654-1629, 0939-936-5433, and 0939-9375433./
