Hyundai unveils new ‘fun’ SUVs
Hyundai Cebu launched its two newest SUVs at iSpace Showroom SM City Cebu on Sunday.
The two newest vehicles are the Hyundai Kona and Santa Fe.
Kona features a 2.0 liter and a 4-cylinder Atkinson engine that is equipped with six-speed automatic transmission that offers a manual shifting mode including an overdrive lock-up torque converter for high fuel economy at high speeds.
Kenneth Tan, Hyundai Cebu chief operating officer, told reporters that they were very excited about the Kona because of its best engine nationwide among all of their competitors.
“I’m sure it will be a very fun car to ride, so I think one of the taglines that we’re using is that it’s the best car for any adventure,” said Tan.
Kona targets the yuppies, those who want to be bold and different yet still want an elegant design and enough power.
The unit has a two-tone finish that makes Hyundai a combatant in the subcompact crossover segment.
All-new Santa Fe has two notable features—the supervision type instrument cluster with seven inches LCD monitor and a high-definition camera that en- hances the driver’s visibility and improves safety.
The Santa Fe has its heads-up display that minimizes eye movement during driving through projecting main vehicle information on the front windshield.
The unit has a 360-degree camera that will turn off automatically when the unit is on high speed. When in low speed such as when in parking and negotiating corners, the driver can see the 360-degree view of the car.
“The Santa Fe is really a special car for people who want the best in SUVs, so it has a specific market that do not want to go to the P3- to P4-million car level, but still wants the best,” Tan added.
The Santa Fe and Kona were first launched in the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) last April. The Kona and Sant Fe are now available in Cebu dealerships. /
