CAUGHT WITH P6.5 M
Shabu stash worth more then P6M seized from Reinhard Moreno, 29, in his third arrest since 2016, police say Police claim he used social networking sites to contact suppliers in city jail and arrange for deliveries; he denies owning drugs
A high-value target was arrested by police after he yielded P6.5 million worth of shabu during a drug bust in Upper Kawayan, Barangay Sambag 2, Cebu City yesterday morning.
Chief Insp. Maria Theresa Macatangay, head of the Abellana Police Station, identified the sus- pect as Reinhard Moreno, 29.
“We traced him after we arrested him for using nalbuphine last 2016. He was arrested again last year for possession of nalbuphine paraphernalia,” she said.
Police received a tip that Moreno had also sold drugs, prompting them to conduct a drug bust.
Authorities conducted the operation around 6:35 a.m.
Seized from his possession were P6.5 million worth of shabu and P12,000 cash.
Macatangay revealed that Moreno used social media in his illegal drug activities.
“Kani ang bag-ong paagi nila ron kay mo-contact sila through social networking sites sa ilang mga fellow pushers, mo-order sila ngadto and these people who are allegedly inside the city jail, mo-contact pud sa source. Their source then delivers to someone who orders sama niya. He used social media during his transactions so it makes it difficult to catch him because he also erases his traces,” she said.
Moreno’s contacts reportedly came from the Cebu City Jail.
It is because of this that Macatangay said they work with city jail officials for the conduct of regular greyhound operations.
“Naa mi greyhound in coordination with the city jail officials kay kung di permanintihon, kanang mga napasulod nga mga android devices, they can use it to coordinate the dynamics of the drug trade,” she said.
Macatangay said that Moreno’s illegal drug trade distribution reached outside their area of responsibility.
Their station covers Barangays Sambag 1, Sambag 2, Capitol Site, Kamputhaw, Cogon Ramos and Sta. Cruz.
Moreno, when interviewed, denied the allegations against him.
He also said the illegal drugs seized from him were not his.
When asked, however, how much was given to him as his share in his involvement in the illegal drug trade, he said “Depende (It depends).”
Moreno will face complaints for the violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. /
