UV, SHS-AdC stay unbeaten

Powerhouse basketball schools University of the Visayas (UV) and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) went unbeaten in their divisions of the 33rd SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament backed by Milo over the weekend in the SHS-AdC Gen. Maxilom Ave. Campus Gym.

UV outclassed Sisters of Mary School Boystown, 49-33, in the Passerelle division.

UV led the game from start to finish to win its second straight game.

Christian Jay Alilin led UV with 12 points, while Brian Toring added 10. Ivan Cabodbod scored eight markers for SMS Boystown.

SHS-AdC, in the meantime, came from behind and beat UniStar versity of San Carlos (USC), 39-35, in overtime in the SBP division.

SHS-AdC trailed most of the way. The Magis Eagles were behind 11 points going into the fourth quarter. SHS-AdC had a strong performanc­e in the period with a 12-0 run led by Froiland Maglasang and Erik Jabalon, who combined for 10 points.

Gester Canonigo had a chance to win the game for USC but split his free throws to send it to overtime, 30-30.

SHS-AdC outscored USC, 9-5, in overtime to take the win.

Maglasang had 10 points for SHS-AdC, while Jabalon and Dylan Jared Lim with eight each.

Niño Pagador led USC with nine, while Angelo dela Cruz chipped in seven.

SHS-AdC won its second game of the season.

In the other SBP game, UV bounced back from a defeat in its opener with a 34-16 Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC).

Kent Clark Castro dropped 14 points to lesd UV, while AJ Prudencio and Joshmar Canoy had seven each.

Meanwhile, in the Passerelle division, DBTC thrashed Abellana National School (ANS), 31-13.

Christian Go had eight to lead DBTC

SWU defeated USC, 53-43, in the third Passerelle game.

Jesu Siez sparked SWU with 15, while Kurt Jalalon contribute­d with 12. /
