UAP District C-1 architects take pledge to shared progress
When great minds lead, great members are encouraged to follow. Such was perfectly exhibited when members answered a resounding “yes!” when asked if they were ready to take the challenge of their profession. With a profession like architecture, saying yes takes pure dedication.
The night called for a double celebration as the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) District C-1 recognized officers and welcomed new members in a joint induction and oathtaking ceremony last Aug. 10 at Cebu Country Club, Cebu City.
Architects from UAP District C-1 chapters, namely Cebu, Sugbu, Leon Kilat, Rajah Humabon, Datu Lapu-Lapu, Fort San Pedro, Metro Cebu, Bohol and Dumaguete and from other parts of the country were in full force in the event wearing their Filipiniana and Barong Tagalog ensembles. Executives with UAP national president Benjamin Panganiban on the lead, were designated in a table onstage along with UAP national auditor Rolan Paulo Alberto, then incoming District C-1 district director Dennis Bernardo, UAP vice president for Area C Rolando Ignacio and outgoing District C-1 district director, Emmanuel Cuizon. In full view of the stage were the respective chapter presidents seated together in a separate table.
“Tonight, we will witness the induction ceremony and witness the desire to come over and experience what is good for the organization,” Panganiban said in his welcome address. The pinning rites to officially welcome the members and newly-inducted officers followed suit. Special awards were given to recognized chapters. Sugbu Chapter was awarded as the Proactive Council. Best Chapter President was awarded to Valentino Vergara. Best Chapter Award was given to Bohol Chapter.
The district event was hosted by UAP Cebu Chapter, co-presented by Boysen and sponsored by Liteblock, Matimco, Onduline, Union Galvasteel, Lixil, Ezware, CMI (Cabinet Members Inc.) and Soundballoon Entertainment.
“We look forward to seeing the chapters have their own programs to adopt so that the organization will grow, move forward and expect the architects to promote the profession,” Panganiban added. The United Architects of the Philippines aims to thrive on becoming a partner of the government toward nation-building in which unity, accountability and professional excellence are valued.
