With steady advancements in technology also comes new risks and threats in cyber security. In light of recent cyber attacks, the Philippines has taken action to be prepared with not just the knowledge but also the latest technology for the worst case cyber scenario.

One of these efforts to heighten cyber security is through CyberCon Asia, a two-day conference, workshop and exhibition that gathers experts and key players to talk about information sharing and cyber security. CyberCon Asia 2018 took place last Aug. 16 and 17 at the City Sports Club Cebu, wherein tech professionals and industry leaders were educated on the latest in the cyber world and cyber security from a reputable lineup of speakers including Police Chief Supt. Marni Marcos Jr., the director of the Anti-Cybercrime Group of the Philippine National Police.

Event presenter Worldtech Information Solutions Inc., one of the leading information tech- nology training providers in the country, brought a new kind of experience to CyberCon this year: CyberLabs (cyber laboratories), spaces where participants saw live demonstrations on how cyber attacks occur and learned the best actions to take, tried new technologies firsthand and talked to experts.

With the theme “Fortifying Cyber Resiliency,” this year’s CyberCon tackled the concept of cyber security with a much broader and comprehensive approach, discussing not just how to maintain protection from potential attacks but also on how to ensure survival post-attack. The event aims to raise awareness among major stakeholders from government agencies, corporations and academic institutions.
