■ FOOD AND TOURISM ATTRACTIONS HIGHLIGHTED IN CEBU JOURNEYS
Food and tourist destinations in the towns and cities of Cebu Province are being showcased by the Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) during a three-day tourism fair that started yesterday.
The Cebu Journeys 2018 Travel Fair and Exhibit, which will end on Thursday, is part of activities for the Province’s 449th founding anniversary. The exhibit is held at the Capitol Social Hall and is open to the public.
Joselito “Boboi” Costas, PTO head, told reporters they organized the fair to help promote the various cuisines, homegrown products, and tourist sites that the Province’s towns and cities have to offer.
For cuisine, participating towns and cities coordinated with hotels, restaurants and resorts in coming up with new ways of presenting dishes. Participating towns and cities were also given a chance to showcase the various tourist destinations and homegrown products, which will be sold to the public at a discounted price.
The PTO also placed a gigantic LED monitor below the Capitol dome where videos of various tourist destinations in Cebu are being shown.
Costas said the videos provide teasers on what tourists can expect in each destination. The fair emphasizes the use of organic materials such as wood and bamboo, “to highlight the organic feel of Cebu being an island,” Costas added.
