Cabreros St. closed for a month for roadwork

-

Following the closure of Cabreros St. in Cebu City, southbound motorists who use the Tagunol access road are advised to head straight to Poblacion Pardo.

Starting yesterday, Cabreros St. will be closed to vehicular traffic for a month to pave the way for the Department of Public Works and Highways Central Visayas’ (DPWH 7) boring activities on the depressed portion of N. Bacalso Ave.

Cebu City Transportation Office operations head Francisco Ouano, though, stressed there will be no major change in the traffic scheme surrounding the affected area.

The same traffic scheme for southbound vehicles was pre- viously implemented during Phase 3 of the project three months ago.

Ouano said the 24 traffic enforcers fielded at a portion of C. Padilla St., Tagunol St., Macopa St., F. Llamas St., Sabellano St., and the Punta Princesa area will remain.

In a separate interview, DPWH project engineer Engr. Roy dela Cruz said that the underpass project is now 76 percent complete.

The project’s contract will expire in March 2019.

“By December, mura’g maka-open na ta sa duha ka side roads. Naa gihapo’y ongoing construction by then, but ang main underpass structure na gyud na in the middle lanes. Ang iyang side roads, open na gyud na both sides,” he said.

Dela Cruz said Cabreros St. needed to be closed to vehicular traffic because their bored piles will directly obstruct the passageway. /
