■ TEAM RAMA TO OFFER MASS, TOO, AFTER BOPK ANNOUNCES THANKSGIVING MASS
The opposition group in Cebu City will also offer a solidarity mass to show their support for the city’s police force on Sept. 9, the same day that Mayor Tomas Osmeña and his allies will offer a thanksgiving mass. In a news conference yesterday, opposition councilor Raymond Garcia said they hope to boost the morale of the police officers amid the criticisms they have been getting from the mayor. “The morale of the police officers is low because of the attacks coming from the mayor himself. You have a mayor who is supposed to cooperate with the police, now he is throwing different accusations against them, calling them criminals, not respecting them by releasing detained suspects from the police station,” Garcia said. “It is time that we have a solidarity mass to show the police that we support them and we are behind them,” he added. Garcia said the police and other sectors of society will be invited. Osmeña announced earlier that on the same date, they will offer a thanksgiving mass to celebrate the developments that will benefit the people in the city.
