■ BE AT THE AIRPORT 5 HOURS BEFORE YOUR FLIGHT, MCIAA TELLS PASSENGERS
A day before the runway repairs start, the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) advised passengers to be at the airport five hours before their flight to avoid missing their flight or causing flight delays. MCIAA Public Affairs Division head Mary Ann Dimabayao gave the advisory after MCIAA personnel made a final inspection of the runway early morning yesterday before closing it for repairs for six hours a day beginning tomorrow. She led the composite team during the inspection. The team found potholes on the runway’s asphalt paving. Dimabayao said the MCIAA will see to it that the 21-day work on the asphalt overlay will not be interrupted by bad weather. The MCIA took in two contractors to hasten the runway’s repair. MCIA General Manager Steve Dicdican said that around 60 trucks of asphalt will be poured into the runway everyday. The asphalt overlay works will run from Sept. 1 to 21, from 1:30 am to 6:30 am.
