Mactan killing linked to drugs

-

The man who was killed in front of his child had just fetched the child in school in Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.

Manuel Alidon fell off his traysikad after he was shot by a motorcycle-riding gunman at 5:45 p.m.

Supt. Eloveo Marquez, Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) chief, the child saw the shooting since he was riding the traysikad driven by his father.

Investigation showed that the gunman was tailing Alidon, and when they were in front of a hotel and spa in Sitio Soong 1, Barangay Mactan, the gunman opened fire.

He was hit in different parts of the body.

Marquez said the incident might have something to do with illegal drugs. Found in the victim’s possession were five packs of shabu.

Crime scene operatives recovered three bullet shells at the site.

Investigators are still checking if there are cameras in the area that could have recorded the incident.

Meanwhile, the IDMB is waiting for the cross matching of the gun used in shooting retired police officer Wilfredo Amores and the gun used in killing a relative of Lapu-Lapu City Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong, Artemio Ycong.

Marquez said both killings bear similarities in the way they were carried out. /
