‘Bomb threats in Bohol, Cebu just fake news’

- RTF / JOB,

There are no actual threats of suicide bombings in Bohol and Cebu City as validated by local intelligence units, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 said.

Supt. Reyman Tolentin, spokesperson of the PRO 7, said the Regional Intelligence Division (RID) identified those who spread the false news and they were tracked down in Bohol.

Fake news nga creation of people na probably may away sa mall establishments para way muadto or madiscourage moadto’g malls,” Tolentin said.

Because of the said reports, Tolentin said the intel unit of PRO 7 validated the information, which reportedly spread in social networking sites two weeks ago.

“Nag initiate ang RID because for our part, we really have to validate and act on it, on any information nga mutumaw,” he said.

Earlier, social media posts warned mall goers that four women from Basilan will bomb malls in Bohol and Cebu.

In Cebu City, Councilor Dave Tumulak appealed to the public not to spread or believe unverified reports of bomb threats.

Tumulak, the deputy mayor for police matters, said doing so will avoid creating fear and panic.
