A drug den reportedly frequented by call center agents and drug personalities was dismantled by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 on Salinas Drive in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City yesterday dawn.

The operation was authorized through a search warrant.

Susan Romero, who allegedly maintains the drug den, was arrested along with five other individuals. Romero can reportedly dispose of ten grams of shabu per week.

Leia Albiar, PDEA 7 spokesperson, said the operation was implemented after they received reports about illegal drug activities in the area.

Albiar said they consider a barangay seriously affected by illegal drugs if they find a drug den.

“That has been our target even before, to dismantle drug dens under our areas of responsibility,” she said.

Also arrested were John Lester Sarsona, Edwin Romano Jr., Edwin Romano Sr., Jonye Bayquilla, and Oliver Romano Jr.

PDEA 7 seized illegal drugs worth P68,000 from them.

In Dumaguete City, another drug den was also destroyed in Zone 2, Barangay Looc where 17 persons were arrested including the drug den maintainer identified as Wilfreda Semetara.

Illegal drugs worth P204,000 were also seized.

Albiar said that Sematara can dispose of 100 grams of shabu per week.

Suspects will be facing complaints for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
