A suspected pusher was shot dead in a shootout with anti-narcotics operatives in Sitio Sawsawan, Barangay San Roque, Talisay City last Monday night.
The fatality was identified as Eduardo “Lantoy” Piloto.
Neighbors had overheard Piloto say that he would kill police officers.
His alleged cohort, Errol Labajo Fernandez, was also killed in the operation.
Ronnie Domin, another associate of Piloto and Fernandez, did not resist when he was arrested.
Plot uncovered
Talisay City Police Chief Marlu Conag said Piloto was a wellknown supplier of illegal drugs in Barangay Tanke.
“A few weeks ago, the subject, armed with a pistol, fired several shots in Sitio Rattan, Tanke, shouting that he would kill any police officer,” Conag said.
Piloto allegedly fired at the operatives last Monday night, but he failed to hit any of them.
Conag said they recovered the suspect’s cell phone and uncovered the plan of Piloto’s group to rob a convenience store. The group reportedly planned to kill the store’s security guard.
Seized from Piloto was a loaded .45 pistol, while a loaded .38 revolver was seized from Fernandez.
Domin yielded a medium pack of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu. Operatives also seized five sachets believed to contain “shabu.”
Charges
Domin will be facing complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In a report, the police said they were already in position for the sting operation before the shootout.
A police officer and a civilian confidential agent, who acted as customers, approached Domin to make a purchase.
Upon receiving the P700 marked money, Domin asked Piloto for the shabu.
Piloto gave him a plastic bag containing small and medium sachets of “shabu.”
Domin then handed the medium sachet to the undercover police and the civilian confidential agent.
The undercover officer signaled that the transaction was completed and the other operatives rushed to the suspects.
According to police, Piloto and Domin pulled their firearms. The shootout ensued.
