Tomas’ approval of opposition consultants remains pending

-

after the request was made, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has yet to approve the hiring of consultants of the opposition officials.

This, as the City Council asked the City Accounting Office to submit to the body a list of the mayor’s consultants.

This came after the Council, after some debate, approved the services of three consultants of Osmeña yesterday.

During the deliberation of the three resolutions on the matter, Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella, a member of the opposition, said the mayor had yet to approve the hiring of the services of the opposition’s consultants.

This prompted Councilor Sisinio Andales to say that the Council should not hold hostage the approval of the consultants of the mayor. Andales sponsored the three resolutions to renew the contracts of the three consultants of Osmeña.

Among the opposition consultants whose approval by Osmeña is still pending are those of Councilors Joel Garganera and Raymond Garcia. Garganera said that he and his colleagues already submitted their proposals to renew their consultants’ contracts months ago. But there has been no update yet.

During the Council session yesterday, the council approved the renewal of the contract services of former councilor Alvin Dizon, Nanette Garong and Jesus Doque IV.

Dizon is Osmeña’s consultant on special concerns, Garong onbusiness process outsourcing and Doque on governance.

The renewal of their contract services covers the period of July 1 to Dec. 31, 2018. Each of them receives a monthly remuneration of P18,000.

Councilor Sisinio Andales said the Council should not hold hostage the approval of the consultants of the mayor. Andales sponsored the three resolutions for the renewal of the contracts of three of Osmeña’s consultants.
