Jpark Island divers take cleanup underwater

-

The Jpark Island Divers participated in the clean-up dive activity parallel to its commitment to protect, conserve and rehabilitate the city’s environment last Sept. 22.

True to Jpark Island Resort & Waterpark’s vow in keeping the natural beauty of Mactan Island as its crown priority, it has volunteered in clearing up the ocean floor of trash, which include plastic bottles, cans, wires, rubber, fish nets and metal bars. More than a hundred other volunteer divers also took part in the coastal clean-up activity.

Due to Typhoon Ompong, which hit the country last Sept. 15, the 33rd International Coastal Clean-up activity headed by the Lapu-Lapu City Government was postponed to Sept. 22.

The International Coastal Clean-up activity is geared toward collecting trash and other waste items that threaten the delicate underwater marine ecosystem, particularly the coral reefs. This year’s celebration will be dedicated to providing the information and inspiration needed to fundamentally change human attitude and behavior about plastics and water pollution.
