Metrotiles, Econtech off to CABC semis

Metrotiles and Econtech advanced to the semifinal round of the Cebu Architects’ Basketball Club (CABC) 2nd Corporate Cup after winning their respective quarterfin­al games last Sunday at the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Gym.

Metrotiles upset higher-seeded Phelps Dodge, 95-78.

Michael Cinco and Jonas Panerio combined for 42 points to lead Metrotiles to beat Phelps Dodge, which had a twice-to-beat advantage.

Cinco had a complete game with 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Panerio also logged 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds and hit seven of 13 from beyond the arc.

Darren Morandante added 15, while Mito Parba and Paolo Tamoso contribute­d 10 each.

Lemuel Aspacio dropped 21 points to lead Phelps Dodge in scoring, while Chester Hinagdanan almost logged a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.

Alexander Vidal also had 16, while Carlos Baltar contribute­d 11.

On the other hand, Econtech beat Boysen Paints, 93-81.

Ayi Armenion led Econtech with a near triple-double of 19 markers, nine rebounds, six assists, three steals and a block. Justin Aspacio scored 21 points, while Elmer Laguna and Michael Judilla chipped in 11 each.

Bong Gabison had 21 points, seven boards, six assists and two blocks in a losing effort by Boysen Paints. Chris Mantal scored 19, Jonathan Suico added 15 and Marben Rabuya had 10.

Metrotiles faces Davies Paints, while Econtech takes on ACC LightStron­g in the semifinals. /
