Uson resigns; Cebuanos react
With the resignation of Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson, the people can’t just stay still and not comment—most of the Cebuanos interviewed by SunStar Cebu were glad about the development.
Florist Alexander Garcia Monteclar, 60, said Uson’s resignation is for the betterment of the people because for him, she is not fit for the position since she is an actress: “The right person to be in the position is someone who is trustworthy to strengthen the administration of (President Rodrigo) Duterte.”
Louie Jake Marata, a 23-yearold engineering graduate, agreed with Monteclar. He said Uson did not contribute anything as PCOO assistant secretary because she only shared fake news.
Jenivy Flores, 31, though said Uson’s resignation was unjustifiable because Uson was not clear on why she resigned as PCOO assistant secretary.
“She has the right to remain as PCOO assistant secretary,” she said in Cebuano.
Joebert Rosalejos, a 28-yearold law student, said he is neither pro or against Uson. However, he didn’t like the performer’s “nonsense acts” and the “wrong information” she shared when she was promoting federalism, which is one of the agenda of the Duterte administration.
“The time has finally come. She already has the delicadeza to step down because she does not deserve the assistant secretary position,” said Rosalejos. “For me, reading between the lines, I think she is now preparing for the coming elections... She is not a big loss to the office.”
