No list yet of households falling within DENR 7’s danger zone

-

City of Naga Mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong is urging the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to fast-track the release of the list of households that could be affected by their delineation of danger zones near Ground Zero in Barangay Tina-an’s landslide area.

This, as more evacuees are asking when they would be allowed to return to their homes following the landslide two weeks ago.

Some evacuees, especially those with properties within the delineated danger zone identified by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), are also concerned that they might not be able to recover their properties should the state strictly implement the nobuild policy in the area.

Chiong said she was informed by the MGB yesterday that while they already have the number of households within the delineated danger zone, they cannot release the list yet since they need to submit it to Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu for approval.

MGB officials promised to Chiong they would deliver their report on Monday.

Chiong said some evacuees are eager to return to their homes, especially those who are living far from the danger zone.

Two weeks have passed since the landslide, but the MGB has yet to issue its final assessment on the delineation of danger zones.

Chiong urged the evacuees, especially those with titled propcoliform. erties within the one-km.-radius delineated danger zone, to heed DENR’s call not to return to their homes anymore. /
