Resort, gadget company team up; urge guests to capture, share clips

-

Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa (SLMRS) Cebu collaborates with Garmin Philippines on its new “Shangri-La Mactan Stories” initiative.

“We are proud to be the first fully Garmin-enabled resort in the world,” says SLMRS general manager René D. Egle of his latest project that provides guests with tools to capture and professionally edit their holiday footage for sharing, not only within their personal social media circles, but on the resort website as well.

Initially, 10 Garmin Virb cameras will be made available for guests to use free of charge within the resort. Steel camera mounts have been installed in over 30 different locations around the property, chosen to maximize the best angles and views. Trained resort staff will be on hand to guide users with the Virb Edit desktop software, where raw files can be edited, giving each clip a professional, high-quality finish.

Encouraging guests to showcase their creativity and share their content, the yearround “Shangri-La Mactan Stories Awards” competition will single out videos in three categories: Inspirational, Action and Out of the Box. Winners will be selected from all videos uploaded online with the resort’s geotag and #ShangriLaMactanxGarmin. Prizes include stays at ShangriLa properties – Tokyo, Paris and the Maldives – including roundtrip airfare on a premium carrier, as well as island holidays at the resort itself and top of-theline Garmin cameras.

Distributed by Navco Inc., Garmin products will also be available at SLMRS shops.
