Golden Prince plays up Cebuano history, culture
A hotel hopes to impart Cebuano culture and history to their clients and guests.
Aaron Que, executive vice president of Golden Prince Hotel and Suites, said that they are putting focus on the history of Cebu with the redesigned Kabilin Heritage Lounge.
“For the design of the lounge, we functionalized the elements, from the lamps to the windows, which was a mix from Carcar, Minglanilla and some were from Lahug,” Que told SunStar Cebu.
It took a month to brainstorm on the added amenities to the lounge. They also participated in different tours around Cebu.
“Whatever Golden Prince has invested in, we’re always hopeful that people will come because we always believe that whatever we created, it stands for the Cebuano. It’s just how we promote it,” he said.
They also want to highlight Cebuano home cooking. “The dishes are very heavy on the Cebuano side. If you think about cuisine, it’s not about fivestars, which focus a lot on the international taste. We focus on home cooking because it’s what people want to eat. People want to eat what their mother cooked for them. Home cooking is very important and that’s what we are trying to bring back in the culinary world,” he said.
The hotel celebrated its 12th anniversary on Tuesday with the soft opening of the renovated Kabilin Heritage Lounge. “Golden Prince Hotel’s future plans are to continue building the legacy of preserving and promoting Cebuano heritage. It is part of our vision to provide the unique Cebuano royalty experience throughout the guests’ stay,” he said. /
