Duros Group ventures into tourism

Tourism will be the next big investment for homegrown firm Duros Group of Companies.

Duros Group president Fe Barino said the company is venturing into hotel developmen­ts to take advantage of the flourishin­g tourism industry.

By next month, the company will launch the 38-room Gana Siargao Island Resort in Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte.

In Cebu, the group is building a 46-room hotel called Minore Hotel, which is part of an integrated developmen­t in Barangay Luz, Cebu City.

Barino said the thriving tourism industry presents new opportunit­ies for businesses like them to venture into. She said building accommodat­ion facilities wouldn’t be difficult, given that the group’s core business in constructi­on.

“We are backing on the steady influx of guests who come to Cebu and to the Philippine­s,” she said.

In Barangay Yati, Liloan where the group is headquarte­red, Ba- rino said they are slowly transformi­ng the 200-hectare township project into a retirement facility.

“We are preparing the township to eventually become a fullfledge­d retirement village,” said Barino.

Named Northside Beacon, the P8-billion project features a golf course, strip malls, condominiu­m and house-and-lot projects.

“It is envisioned to become the central residentia­l-cum-business district and economic driver in the north for generation­s to come,” the company said, in a statement.

At present, the residentia­l component of the township project is now home to foreign and local end-users and investors.

Barino said they are also eyeing to set up a hotel there.

The Duros Group of Companies is engaged in several businesses-—real estate, constructi­on, interior fabricatio­n and manufactur­ing, property management, education and food. /
