Megaworld is Lapu’s top taxpayer

From 18th place last year, Megaworld Corp. was Lapu-Lapu City’s top taxpayer this year.

The company was awarded along with 24 other taxpayers at a ceremony held at the Hoopsdome last night.

Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa Cebu was given the Hall of Fame award for being the top taxpayer for 10 years.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said the annual awarding ceremony is their way of recognizin­g the prime movers of the economy.

The other reporters Lear Automotive (EEDS) Phils. Inc., J Park Island Resort and Waterpark, General Milling Corp., Advent Energy Inc., Taiyo Yuden (Phils.) Corp., Fairchild Semiconduc­tor (Phils.), Filinvest Group of Companies, Freement Food Corp., Jollibee and GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp.

The other awardees include Super Metro Gaisano-Lapu-Lapu, Oikonomos Internatio­nal Resources Corp. (Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu), Muramoto Audio-Visual Phils. Inc., JS Unitrade Merchandis­e Inc., Plantation Bay Holdings Corp. Taipan Developmen­t Inc. (Gaisano Island Mall Mactan), Far EastNoble House Inc. (Gaisano Grand Mall of Mactan), Draka Phils. Inc., NKC Mfg. Philippine­s Corp., Timex Phils. Inc., Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino Inc., Robinsons Land Corp., Yamashin Cebu Filter MFG.Corp., Euro CB Phils. Inc. and MSM Cebu Inc.

A cash incentive of P20,000 each was also given to those who won awards overseas. The awardees were Kristine Hope Baguio, Vovinam gold medallist; and winners of the World Championsh­ip of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in California, USA composed of Raiza Pagatpatan, Renz Harvey Aleguiojo and Gwyneth Lovelle Tayactac. /
